NAMASTE*
W
elcome to The Raj as we present to you the legacy of India’s most ancient culinary heritage and take you on a journey where
the fusion of skillfully spiced dishes with their mesmerizing flavours, textures and rich colours are sure to be an unforgettable experience.

The Raj Indian Restaurants offers all the splendour of traditional North Indian cuisine. The service is efficient and friendly and the food is undeniably the most authentic Indian cuisine available in the country. The food is spicy, delicious and traditional with the menu offering a large variety of authentic Indian culinary styles such as Tikka Masala, Vindaloo, Khorma and Bhoona. Our master chefs are all from India and bring with them at least seven proud generations of Indian culinary knowledge and traditions.

Each restaurant has its own ambience created by its decor and lighting. The Raj Rivonia embodies the elegance of the old British colonial style in India whereas The Raj in Kyalami is more colourful, in keeping with the vibrant heritage of the Indian city of Jaipur. Rivonia and Kyalami are easily accessible from the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg, Pretoria and surrounding areas.

The new 130-seater Raj Michelangelo Towers, off Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg is the “jewel in the crown” and sports soft tumeric yellow, white and dark brown décor in a sophisticated setting. Large white and gold statues of Nandi’s* (Cow) are set against latticed screens. It features a smoking section, award winning wine cellar and a fully equipped bar. A window in front of the kitchen brings the visual appeal of flamboyant Indian cooking to guests as special breads are tossed in the air during preparation and giant skewers passed in and out of the tandoori ovens.
This restaurant won the Platinum award and Diners Club Wine List Award.

In addition to the main restaurants, fast food outlets cater for a more western approach to Indian Cuisine; Bunny Chow, Roti's etc - better than we know it.

Namasté - *The Sanskrit word Namasté (pronounced as "Namastay") means 'I bow to the divine in you.' Namasté is a greeting used by many Indians as a form of reverence to those that they greet...just like we might say "Hello" or "Hola."
